Civil Project Supervisors

Due to continuing growth across Tasmania we are looking to appoint strong Civil Supervisors to supervise projects in Tasmania. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in a broad range of Civil projects including but not limited to, major earthworks, road works, pavements, traffic management, highway duplications and civil infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Civil Supervisor’s will include:

  • Providing confident and competent leadership to a project and employees, including sub-contractors.
  • Deliver all projects safely, cost effectively, on time and on budget
  • Identify all issues, which may increase costs of the project and in consultation with the Project Manager implement corrective actions
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of all aspects of all projects for which you are responsible
  • Planning of works on-site necessary to deliver the project, including plant and equipment, labour, materials, sub-contractors and any other resources
  • Direction of all works on-site necessary to deliver the project, including plant and equipment, labour, materials, sub-contractors and any other resources
  • Reporting of all activities that occur on-site each day, as required by the Project Specification and the Quality, OH&S, Environment
  • Management of all OH&S, Quality and Environmental management issues on all sites for which you are responsible for.

To be considered for the role of Civil Supervisor you will require:

  • A proven background within civil construction which will include extensive experience within major earthworks, road works, excavation and mobile operations
  • Experience as a stand-alone supervisor civil project up to $5 million
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders

Civil Pipelayers - Labourers

Shaw Contracting (Aust) Pty Ltd, is a leading provider of Civil Construction, Mining and Rail Contracting services. Shaw’s continued growth is attributed to our proud and dedicated people.

Due to continuing growth across Tasmania, we are looking to appoint Civil Pipelayers - Labourers.

If you have skills and experience in civil construction and meet the following criteria, we could offer you your next employment opportunity.

To be successful in the position you should be self-motivated and safety minded, have experience in the following areas:

  • Concreting
  • Steel Fixing
  • Form work
  • Pouring, screeding and finishing
  • Laying sewer, water and stormwater pipes
  • Technical skills with the ability to read and understand plans and construction drawings
  • Relevant licences, white card, certificates and qualifications
  • The ability to work unsupervised and enjoy working as part of a valued team
  • A demonstrated commitment to work health & safety, quality and environmental standards in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and site project management plans.
  • Some projects will require you to work away from home. A living away from home allowance will be paid along with travel.

Manager, Human Resources

In this full-time, permanent role, you will report to the CEO, based out of our Launceston office. A key focus of the Manager, Human Resources role is to partner with internal stakeholders to consult and provide HR strategies and solutions that align with the Shaw vision and values while enhancing culture and business performance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional seeking to step-up into a manager’s role, to play a pivotal role in supporting the business and its managers. You will partner with managers to deliver tailored solutions in employee relations, talent development, and workforce planning.

By overseeing the entire employee lifecycle, you will foster a positive workplace culture while navigating HR challenges.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead the development, implementation and regular review of HR Strategies to maximise employee engagement.
  • Partner with Senior Management, Managers and Supervisors in identifying business needs and solutions for organisation and functional structure, succession planning and employee development.
  • Support management in the performance review and development of employees to maximise their potential
  • Oversee the training and development of Shaw employees to support career progression and development, workforce and succession planning strategies
  • Manage the industrial and employee relations functions
  • Compliance of Federal and State workplace, safety, and workers compensation laws and regulations
  • Compliance of WorkCover and RTW processes

You will have a strong knowledge of employment law, industrial relations, workforce planning, and HR best practice. This role will require the successful candidate to have capacity to operate at both a strategic and operational level, with business/commercial acumen and an appreciation and understanding of the complexities of the drivers of such a diverse business. You will have expertise in effectively translating strategy into day-to-day operational activities.
