Elwick Racecourse

Shaw Contracting were engaged by Strath Ayr for the construction of the track formation to subgrade level, widening the racing track from 23m to 28m as well as the retaining walls and fencing components of the Elwick Racecourse Thoroughbred Track Reconstruction project. With other big projects underway, making full utilisation of our company resources, we engaged several subcontractors based in the south of the state to help us construct the project under Shaw management.

James Steele and the team have hit the project running from mid-February working congenially with StrathAyr to hit key project milestones. With Tony Neil behind the wheel of the 16G grader and several moxys, we have been able to utilise the good weather to considerably accelerate the earthworks production of the contract, forecasting us to have the earthworks component handed back to the client 13 weeks ahead of schedule.

The project has been a success to date where strong business relationships have been formed with some key subcontractors in the south of the state which will only help us grow our business intrastate in the future.
